Barkley Seed Acquires Wheatland Seed
YUMA, Ariz., July 28, 2023 – Barkley Seed, Inc., a subsidiary of Barkley Companies of Arizona, has completed its acquisition of the seed division and assets of Wheatland Seed Inc.
Barkley Seed is a family-owned business delivering high quality certified seed for both forage and Identity Preserved Grain. Barkley Seed is committed to quality and consistency and has been serving the industry for over 50 years.
Headquartered in Brigham City, Utah, Wheatland Seed operates as a certified seed dealer providing planting seed to wholesale ag distributors in the Intermountain West. The company operates a seed cleaning facility in Brigham City, Utah and temperature-controlled warehouse for seasonal seed storage in Wellsville, Utah.
Wheatland also operates a direct-to-consumer, shelf stable food ingredients business on an e-commerce model through Amazon, Walmart and Target, which was not part of the transaction.
The transaction results in the divestiture of Wheatland’s seed growing, distribution and cleaning operations to Barkley Seed. Barkley Seed will retain all of the Wheatland’s employees focused on the seed business and will continue to work with the company’s supply chain partners and customers.
